Google Summer of Code
Lead: Valentin Volkl
Deputy: Aaron Jomy
Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a global program, sponsored by Google, that offers students stipends to write code for open source projects. EP-SFT participates in GSoC since 2011 and coordinates the submission of the projects by the organisation. In 2017, the program has expanded to involve the high-energy physics community under the umbrella of the HEP Software Foundation (HSF), and is jointly organised with the HSF since then.
Through our participation in GSoC, hundreds of students had the chance over the years to contribute code to a wide variety of projects and topics, including machine learning, event displays, data storage, user interfaces, automatic differentiation, and many more. A list of past projects and all current information can be found on the HSF GSoC website.
